Leslie blogged this and I thought it was worth a full forum post. http://www.taiwanbesttrip.net This one actually looks legit. Their process is a lot more thorough than Best Job and it looks like this time they really ARE looking for a blogger. ...

I think you're absolutely right about the time-frame. Some parts needed to be longer and some shorter. And if they need the length of time, they need a way to keep our attention during that length of time. Silence = loss of interest. And given tha...

I agree all around. The would really need to dramatically shorten the time-frame to keep interest. It is apparent that they felt the need for the extended time, and that they kept each of the top groups extremely busy during that time, but I think...

At the end of this article: "The chances are this could become an annual event." I think interest will have waned a lot but those who would be interested in going to Australia anyway would be keeping an eye on the event and those are the tourist ...

Welcome to my corner

Countdown Clock by Zoodu.com

My adventurous spirit has been trapped in the hole of trying to make ends meet. Every day is a struggle to find a way to get out because I will not give up on my dreams.

One day, I'll be a published writer. One day I'll work theatre into my schedule. One day I will have health care, vacation and the financial flexibility to explore the best the world has to offer.

Until then, most of my adventures happen in my crazy dreams...

Past travels, at-home craziness, and dreams are posted at http://mywildheart.wordpress.com

One day, I'll be published in something more than Teen Ink. My writings are here: www.zellie.info

My first island application is here:
http://www.islandreefjob.com/applicants/watch/yruyX6XEGqc

My second is an attempt to be more polished, less cheesy...but ends up sounding a little on speed o.o; It's pending on the real site:

And of course, bloopers!

And bonus scenes which I've turned into the Chronicles of the Not-Quite Island Caretaker:

Opportunity to go to Australia and several other countries

www.worldtravelintern.com

Found out about it through a fellow Ninger. Far few videos to compete with but the competition is still pretty stiff! I'm 26 so just under their cut-off ;_; won't be able to try again next year if I don't make it. I still desperately want to get myself a real video camera though. I used to beg my parents to give me the one they bought (and used a total of...3 times :P ) but it's still collecting dust in a closet somewhere. Ah well..... ONE DAY.......!

If you'd like to… Continue

"Southern heavy rain to snow" LOL...snow?!

Sorry guys, I know you're freezing out there but it's a lovely 72 degrees here. ....and the weather report is predicting snow. Must be a slow news day, eh?

"Sunday, snow or rain changing to sleet and snow could fall from parts of Georgia into the Carolinas. This will impact cities such as Atlanta, Ga., where an inch or so will be possible, and Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C. where several inches will be possible."

Now it's true, we can go from 75 degrees to 30 degrees overnight, from sunny to thud… Continue

Ask not what Australia can do for you, but what you can do for Australia

This job is bursting with potential. I sincerely hope QT chooses someone who takes full advantage of the platform they are given.

One of the reasons I lean so strongly toward choosing someone from Ning is that most (all?) active members are enthusiastic about what they will give back to the community. It's easy for someone to play nice for 60 seconds. I will be sorely disappointed if all we get are report… Continue

Holycrap, I FINISHED my rough draft! Suggestions?

Where nightmares seep into reality and I overdose on my love of Neil Gaiman -- The Deep Within. It's a young adult fantasy including a glowy skeleton dog and budding girl/girl romance (not graphic).

I am really proud of myself. Back in high school I wrote the rough draft for The Resistance. I've been editing it ever since. I started a sequel and brainstormed a bunch but this is the first time since then that I've gone start to finish. I feel so accomplished… Continue

I have an evil clone?!

I got a video rejection because it's a duplicate! But wait... it's not! =O I know I didn't accidentally upload the wrong one because my movie edit software expired on my PC so I had to load the free trial on Chris' laptop so the ONLY video on there was the new one. I double-checked the cache and I used a unique email....

so the only answer is.... there's an evil clone of me who happened to do a video exactly like mine! D:

I wonder, I wonder though... why did they really think it was a duplicat… Continue

ha yes - I wish my mum still sent care packages! -lucky boy - am looking forward to meeting him and the others this weekend. - although just quietly he'll have stiff boardies competition with the 'poached egg' numbers I was given today.

so i take it your saw my 'getting ready for Australia' vid i made for the guys at TQ? http://soveryclosetohamiltonisland.wordpress.com/ A couple of in jokes but you get the general gist of it...

Hi Zellie,
hey thanks for the kind words over the course of this process - I was put off joining several times and then have run off my feet ever since with field shoots so didn't feel like I could contribute much.
- and you were dead right about the blog/twitter comments! - I did have a blog running but I was using it more to direct thoughts and ideas at TQ and didn't feel it appropriate to share with everyone - especially as it wouldn't have made a great deal of sense in the form it was.
-you've had some great input to the content on this site - always a pleasure to read your thoughts.
thanks
Clarke

Hey Zellie!!

I have been looking at this: http://www2.globaltesol.com/ for a "TESOL" certificate. They've got a 'Professional TESOL Certificate' that sounds great to me -

" Credential: Professional TESOL Certificate
• 240 Hours • 4 Courses
• Foundation TESOL Course + Three Specialization Courses
• Overseas Job Guaranteed"

I was thinking for the 3 specialization courses I'd do Teaching English to Children, Teaching English to Adults, and Teaching Grammar! :D

I don't know what the difference between all of the TE... etc acronyms are though!! I should definitely look into that, lol.

Thanks for that "JET" mention! Korea and Japan were one of my first choices!! And then I'd just go from there ;D Like I'd love to teach in Italy and European countries too! And Australia ;) But I feel you'd have to be SUPER qualified there because... well I assume most Australians speak English! LOL

It's just a standard ixus compact that I take travelling because it doesn't matter if it gets a bit battered. I do also have an Canon 350 SLR, which for it's age is an amazing camera and pretty much as good as the newer 450. My favourite, though, is my pentax k1000 - the best camera I've ever owned. It's an analogue camera so it only takes film, but I've had it for years and years and the photos it takes are amazing.

Good luck with your filming. Definitely look into some equipment to keep your camera steady. Actually if you ask James, he might be able to recommend some good stuff.

Hi Zellie, I actually filmed it on a canon digital compact camera - nothing but glamour! I think the word 'fluke' has to be used a fair bit when explaining my video...

The photo was taken on my travels by a guy I was travelling with at the time, again, I think flukey timing caught that one.

If you're having trouble filming movement because of camera shake, you could invest in a fig rig (I think that's what it's called). It will keep the camera steady even if your arm is moving. There are various camera steadying gadgets available so take a look around...

Thank you for directing people to my blog... I appreciate that :)
