COOL! I remember the thing about promotions but I thought it was just, they'd email us about discount packages ;p Glad to hear there is still a possibility out there for us!

Thanks for this Jenny - I did see this before and am looking forward to winning this one! The last time I "claimed" a prize before it was drawn I won a trip to Mexico (we leave on Tuesday for sunny Cancun). I figure if the tactic worked once, it c...

Does anyone else remember reading about a few Queensland holidays that were on offer as part of signing up to the BJITW site? I can't find any details now and am wondering when they are being drawn? (So we still have something to hope for!)

"Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over....." (thanks Crowded House) I guess the dream has now ended for me but good luck to those who are on the shortlist - I wonder what the "psycho" testing will reveal....

More about me!

I am 39 years old and born and bred in Melbourne, Australia. (Note to others: We pronounce it "Melb'n" not "Mel born"!) I have been married for nearly 18 years and have three sons - 11 year old identical twins and a 5 year old. I am a qualified pharmacist and used to own my own business before the twins arrived prematurely and threw a spanner in the works! My life was further changed on the discovery that my youngest son has autism (fortunately the "high-functioning" type - also known as Asperger's Syndrome). I have since held down a number of part-time and casual jobs so that I can devote more time to our children. Over the past 11 years I have worked as a locum pharmacist, a census collector, Avon representative, customer service assessor, pharmacy trainer, site auditor, State Logistics Manager for a "word of mouth advertising" company and a product presenter. I have also done voluntary work for my local Twins Club, Early Childhood Intervention Centre, Little Athletics Centre and school Parents & Friends Association. As you can see I am always interacting with people and many of these positions have involved communicating via the internet! I also have many friends and family interstate and overseas so I frequently communicate with them vial email and Facebook - posting photos and videos to keep in touch.
My father was born in Austria and my parents gave me the gift of international travel throughout my childhood. This love of travel and adventure has persisited throughout my life. Unfortunately our ability to travel extensively has been hindered by the arrival of children! My autistic son had phobias about boats, buses and aeroplane travel which was severely limiting! Fortunately he has recently overcome those fears and we took our first plane trip with him only two weeks ago. He is now addicted too and wants to visit "every country in the world"! Now if only I had unlimited money I would be only too happy to make his dream come true!!

Natural Disasters

While we are all dreaming about the idyllic lifestyle on the Great Barrier Reef please spare a thought for the many Australians who are suffering at the hands of natural disasters currently. From the far north of Queensland who are suffering floods, to the many areas suffering from long lasting drought to the people of Victoria & South Australia who have lost their houses and loved ones in the devastating bushfires that have followed record high temperatures (regularly into the high 40's cel… Continue

Apparently my first video that I had requested be withdrawn (due to poor video and audio quality) has just been accepted! (They obviously missed my tweet!)

I'm considering making another application after listening to the interview with Nic… Continue

My addiction!

I am a bit concerned as I think I may be addicted. Or is it Obsessive Compulsive Disorder? Oh no! Maybe if I admit to a mental illness my application won't be considered! I have been spending way too many hours pouring over application videos, joining forums and viewing everything on the net about "The Best Job". This is what happens when the kids go back to school and I have too much free time on my hands. I uploaded my revised application today (I withdrew my original because of poor video and… Continue

Hi Jenny, thanks for the add! You sound like a strong, resilient woman with a great attitude. Autism is a difficult thing to live with but it sounds like your son is lucky to have such a great mom!

Hi Jenny, thanks for the welcome! I'm from Sydney but secretly love Melbourne. I'm moving back to Australia next week after some glorious years working and traveling overseas, and I think it'll be amazing rediscovering all the nice things about Australia (for example, I came THIS close to being electrocuted in my dodgy hotel room last night). At school I was asked to mentor a boy with Asperger's, and it sure taught me a lot at a young age. Best of luck with your application :-)
